Kōgen designs buildings that treat light as material. Their new site treats a screen the same way — with weight, patience, and shadow.
Challenge
Architecture portfolios drown in imagery. The site had to hold decades of work without ever feeling like a gallery grid.
Goal
Create an editorial system that lets each project breathe, and a navigation that behaves like leafing through a printed volume.
Two months embedded with the practice in Kyoto. We photographed models, buildings, and paper — then designed the site to honour the same silence.
A distilled palette and a two-family type system carry the entire surface from macro to micro.
